Step 3

Handcrafted by Artisans

Every piece undergoes a meticulous four-stage process, combining ancient raden techniques with uncompromising attention to detail. From raw shell to finished masterpiece.

1

Material Selection

Premium abalone shells are hand-picked for their iridescent quality. Only shells with the most vivid blue, green, and purple shimmer are chosen. Each shell is unique — like a fingerprint of the ocean.

2

Precision Cutting

Shell pieces are carefully sawn by hand using traditional jeweler's tools. Each cut follows the natural grain of the shell, preserving maximum iridescence and creating pieces that fit together like a puzzle.

3

Inlay & Assembly

Each shell fragment is fitted into the design on a lacquer base, adhered with natural urushi lacquer. The pieces are then sanded flush with the surface, creating a seamless integration of shell and base.

4

Lacquering & Polishing

Multiple coats of lacquer are applied and hand-polished between each layer. Gold foil accents are hot-stamped with brass dies. The final polish reveals the shell's full iridescent brilliance.
